M101 Holdings Sdn Bhd has signed a licensing agreement with US-based toy and board game company Hasbro Inc and will be working together with Meridian Bhd to open the world’s first Hasbro-themed water park in Melaka, Malaysia by 2022.

According to M101 Holdings Sdn Bhd CEO and Meridian Bhd executive director Datuk Seth Yap (via EdgeProp), the Hasbro water theme park will be “20 acres in size, offering a wide range of branded new rides that are not available in other parks of the world.”

He added:

“We will try to keep the theme park within a budget of less than U$20 million instead of a few hundred million.

But it will be a very unique theme park that offers an enjoyable Hasbro brand experience to the visitors.”

Besides the Hasbro water theme park, M101 Holdings will also be building Monopoly Mansion, a Monopoly-themed hotel at the M101 Skywheel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Hasbro owns many popular entertainment brands, including Power Rangers, My Little Pony, Nerf, GI Joe, Battleship, Play-Doh, Mr. Potato Head, and more. These will be presumably be featured in the Hasbro water theme park when it opens sometime in 2022.

Let’s hope that all of this goes through and doesn’t end up like the Genting 20th Century Fox theme park fiasco.
