11. Strider Hiryu (Marvel vs Capcom Series)

The blade, the stance, the flowing red scarf, and the characteristic yell that accompanies each resounding swing of his sword – Strider Hiryu might be one of the most iconic characters ever despite his lack of popularity among mainstream gaming fans.

Originally the protagonist of a side-scrolling platforming/action game, Strider Hiryu really came into his own when he first made his fighting game debut in Marvel vs Capcom.

Sadly, we might never see this character in a proper blockbuster hit of his own, but 2D fighting game fans will fondly remember him as their favourite ninja who whips out his cypher blade that comes equipped with the iconic “ZING” sound.
