The Top 20 2D Fighting Game Characters Of All Time (Part 1)
19. Nine the Phantom (BlazBlue: Central Fiction)

Speaking of character tropes in fighting games, the magical wizard isn’t one that you see very often. After all, it’s understandably difficult to incorporate a full-fledged magic-user into a genre which usually features martial artists engaging in hand-to-hand combat.
The concept behind Nine’s character design in BlazBlue: Central Fiction might not score that many points for originality, but she stands out for being a brilliantly-executed and gorgeously designed sorceress character in a 2D fighting game.
BlazBlue is a series known for having characters with flashy costumes and even flashier moves, but Nine steals the show by really capturing the power and complexity of an all-powerful elemental sorceress. This was despite the fact that she was only added as a playable character in Central Fiction, which was the last version of Blazblue to be released (not counting Blazblue: Cross Tag Battle).
