The Top 20 2D Fighting Game Characters Of All Time (Part 2)

#6. Johnny Cage (Mortal Kombat Series)

Your mileage may vary when it comes to the idea of a fighter based on the stereotype of an obnoxious hollywood action star, but you have to give Netherealm credit for developing the character of Johnny Cage in the recent Mortal Kombat games and making him a genuinely interesting and nuanced character that isn’t just a caricature of his real-life counterparts.

Even among the wacky and ultra-violent cast of characters that exist in the Mortal Kombat franchise, Johnny Cage stands out as one of the more likeable characters that also has an extremely fun moveset. He even took Guile’s advice and became a family man between MK9 and MKX while still being the only character to ever achieve the feat of punching someone in the nuts so hard that their head flies off – respect.
