17. Big Band (Skullgirls)

Skullgirls is a series that is well-known for its stylistically-drawn and flawlessly animated female cast. Yet somehow, the best character on the roster is one that wasn’t even part of the original all-female cast of characters.

Big Band was the first DLC character ever made for Skullgirls, and Lab Zero really knocked it out of the park with his design. A giant, robotic, walking, punching, and parrying one-man-band, Big Band deserves an instant place on the list of most original character designs of all time.

The concept behind it is deliciously wacky, and Big Band has a stunning moveset to go with it. As if his ability to parry attacks with a giant cymbal was cool enough, he can even stop time to play full tunes on his trumpet in the middle of a fight:
