But I’ll do my best to keep up; hence, this The Wicked + The Divine Deluxe Edition: Year One hardcover collection written by Kieron video games journo turned comic book writer Gillen and illustrated by Jamie McKelvie.

It’s a nifty multi-spanning story about gods being pop stars and pop stars being gods in a contemporary world with fantastical elements here and there.

This volume collects issues #1 to #11, so what better way to jumpstart a non-comic book fan with this mature yet relatable series than with this? – Mr Toffee
