Apple Japan Ad Highlights Macs In Anime
The use of the anime medium to advertise real-life brands isn’t new. Over the years, we’ve had ads for McDonald’s, Nissins Cup Noodles (featuring One Piece characters), and even a Singapore MRT ad directed by Makoto Shinkai.

The difference with Apple Japan’s new ad is that instead of being a brand new anime of sorts, it’s a montage of existing anime scenes that feature a Mac in them.
Part of Apple Japan’s Behind The Mac campaign, it’s a nice 38-second ad that doubles as a “can you recognize this anime?” game. There are scenes from Your Name, Weathering With You, SSSS.Gridman, The Wonderland, New Game!, Sergeant Keroro, My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU TOO!, and several others. Playing in the background is Kaho Nakamura’s catchy I Am Syujinkou.
