Epic Games Accuses SuperData Of Falsifying Fortnite Data
By Jonathan Toyad|February 29, 2020|0 Comment
Last week, analytics company SuperData released a monthly worldwide digital marketing report stating that Epic Games’ moneymaker Fortnite is on a decline. To quote the report, the game “continues [its] gradual decline and hit their lowest level since November 2017”.
Naturally, the company takes umbrage at this “false reporting” and issued the following statement:
“SuperData does not and has not ever had access to Epic’s Fortnite revenue data, and SuperData’s reports do not accurately reflect Fortnite’s performance,” an Epic representative said.
We are disappointed that SuperData has repeatedly published wildly inaccurate reports about Fortnite based on what we believe is questionable methodology.
While we do not and have not publicly shared revenue numbers for Fortnite, we will say that SuperData’s reports do not align with reality.”
SuperData responded to Epic’s statement, saying it has “a proven methodology and validation process” and standing behind its previously reported Fortnite numbers. Until someone gets transparent with numbers, it’s hard to sort out who really has accurate data. Nonetheless, Fortnite is still here to stay, decline or no.
