Want Persona 5 Switch Port? Keep Fighting, Says Atlus
By Alleef Ashaari|February 18, 2020|0 Comment
Ever since Persona 5 originally launched for the PS4 and PS3 in 2017, gamers have been asking for a Nintendo Switch port. Fan fervour only increased when Persona 5 protagonist Joker was added as a DLC fighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Expectations were squashed when the Persona game announced for the Switch later turned out to be a sequel in the form of Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers.
However, Atlus is still encouraging fans to keep fighting for a Nintendo Switch port of Persona 5. Speaking with IGN, Atlus Communications Manager Ari Advincula said:
“I am a strong believer in ‘never ever give up on hope’.
You want what you want and if you don’t let us know it we’re never going to be able to make it.
It’s important to always voice your opinion.â€
Advincula added that she was fighting for the Persona 5 Nintendo Switch port from within as well, but admits that she’s not the one ultimately making the decisions. As such, while it’s all well and good if fans keep fighting for it, there’s essentially no guarantee that the Persona 5 Nintendo Switch port will happen at all.
Fans seem to have forgotten that even if the Nintendo Switch doesn’t get Persona 5, they will still exclusively be receiving the upcoming Shin Megami Tensei V. If you’re unfamiliar, the Persona series is actually a spinoff of the main Shin Megami Tensei franchise, the latter of whom focuses more on traditional JRPG roots and darker themes (and less of the social stuff in the Persona titles).
