Covid-19 Causes Metronomik & CD Projekt Employees To Work From Home

The Covid-19 coronavirus has caused some companies to shift towards home-working. Now, local studio Metronomik and Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red are doing the same.

Both companies announced their decisions on Facebook yesterday, just several hours apart. Metronomik wrote that they had “adopted a work from home policy for the coming weeks ahead” while they finish up their upcoming debut title No Straight Roads.

“We hope that everyone out there can stay and look after their loved ones and others around them who may need support,” their post added.

Meanwhile, CD Projekt Red announced that after a week of “gradually rolling out” organization-wide preventive measures, they will now switch to “full remote work” for as long as necessary.

“We think this will grant every team member the highest level of personal health safety. And while this all is a bit new to everyone, we are rising to the challenge and showing no signs of stopping in our effort to bring you some kick-ass role-playing action in September,” they added.

It’s good to see these two video game companies showing concern for their staff, with Metronomik’s decision coinciding with the recent movement restriction announcement in Malaysia as well.

We just hope that no one crunches too hard, though. While Metronomik CEO Wan Hazmer isn’t fond of crunch, the Cyberpunk team found crunching to be inevitable despite their efforts and the game’s release date delay to September.
