Due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, more major events like E3 2020 have been cancelled.
Now, Star City Games has announced that they are cancelling the following SCG Tour Magic The Gathering events:
According to their news post, they are currently working with both venues to try and reschedule these events for sometime later this year. Anyone who has already pre-registered for either event will be given full refunds of their entry fee over the coming days.
Meanwhile, ChannelFireball also announced that MagicFest events in Detroit (13 to 15 March 2020), Sao Paulo, Brazil (20 to 22 March 2020), and Louisville, Kentucky (27 to 29 March 2020) have all been cancelled, including an upcoming event at Palm Beach, Florida (10 to 12 April 2020).
The safety of MagicFest attendees is important to us and we have been monitoring the evolving public health situation closely. MagicFest events include Grand Prix tournaments that usually have an average of 300 to 500 players attending and participating, excluding the side events or booths on the floor featuring MTG artists, vendors, and cosplay. On the other hand, SCG events are slightly smaller but can still have several hundred players and fans attending a tournament.
On a related note, there are still a number of public gaming events happening in Southeast Asia like AMG-Chan. Here’s a guide on how to deal with the coronavirus from us to you.Â
