The Violet Evergarden: Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll side story movie is coming to Netflix on April 2. The streaming service, which also has the series, made the announcement on Twitter.

The first half of the movie follows the titular Violet Evergarden as she becomes a tutor to Isabella York, an heir to the York family who misses a person from her past. In the second half, Violet’s postal company receives a visit from an orphan called Taylor, who wishes to become a postman.
In Japan, Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll was originally meant to screen for two weeks starting from September 6, 2019, but it ended up screening for five weeks. It came to Malaysian theatres last November, where it was screened in TGV cinemas.
I watched Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll during its local theatrical run and was moved by its incredibly touching moments. The movie’s production quality is also a testament to Kyoto Animation’s prowess.
While KyoAni has other upcoming movies, including a Violet Evergarden sequel movie, Crunchyroll’s Daryl Harding notes that this was the last project it completed before the arson attack in July 18 last year. The sequel movie is scheduled to release on April 24 in Japan, after being pushed back from January 10.
