Games Done Quick Raises US$400,000 For COVID-19 Coronavirus Relief

In the world’s “new normal”, it’s still noteworthy to find charity endeavours being done via gaming. Such is the case of the recent Corona Relief Done Quick livestream which recently ended and net itself US$400,000 to support Direct Relief.

While that amount is lower than GDQ’s main Awesome Games and Summer Games speedrun events, it’s still a “new high for [its] side event efforts” according to the organizers.

“As always, 100% of the donations go directly to the charity. Direct Relief is coordinating with public health authorities, nonprofit organizations and businesses in the U.S. and globally to provide personal protective equipment and essential medical items to health workers responding to coronavirus (COVID-19).

We’d like to thank all the sponsors, donors, runners, and volunteers who helped make this event such a success! Although our event has ended, we hope that you continue to support the battle against COVID-19 in any way you can. Thank you for your support!”

You can catch all the speedruns and marathons here on the GDQ YouTube page, which ranges from a two-screen Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles In Time 20-minute-or-so speedrun to a Halo: Combat Evolved 1-hour-and-a-half playthrough.
