Sam Raimi Is Directing Doctor Strange 2 In The Multiverse Of Madness
By Alleef Ashaari|April 15, 2020|0 Comment
After Scott Derrickson confirmed that he was leaving the project earlier this year due to creative differences, fans have been wondering who will be the director of the sequel to 2016’s Doctor Strange. However, it looks like the rumours were true after all, folks.
In an interview with a bunch of media representatives, Sam Raimi casually confirmed in a nonchalant way that he was involved in Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness. Speaking with ComingSoon about his new Quibi exclusive anthology series 50 States Of Fright, he said:
“I loved Doctor Strange as a kid, but he was always after Spider-Man and Batman for me, he was probably at number five for me of great comic book characters.
He was so original, but when we had that moment in Spider-Man 2, I had no idea that we would ever be making a Doctor Strange movie, so it was really funny to me that coincidentally that line was in the movie.
I gotta say I wish we had the foresight to know that I was going to be involved in the project.â€

It’s funny that Scott Derrickson actually tweeted this back in February 2020, but this is actually the first confirmation by Raimi himself.
I’ve worked with Sam Raimi. One of the nicest people I’ve known in the film business, and as a director, a true living legend. What a great choice to take over Doctor Strange.

Raimi is a horror maestro, best known for the Evil Dead franchise, Sony Pictures’ first Spider-Man trilogy, and the first Darkman movie. He’s perfectly well-suited to making a movie like Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness.
Let’s just hope that Marvel Studios doesn’t hold him back too much. We all remember 2013’s Oz The Great And Powerful, right?
Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness is slated to release on 5 November 2021.
