[Rumour] EA May Release Mass Effect Trilogy Remaster Before Next April

Yesterday, EA has published its first-quarterly 2020 earnings report, which confirmed that FIFA 21 is slated to launch as usual later this year. However, the report also stated that the developer/publisher is planning more games, including an “EA HD title”.

According to VentureBeat’s Jeff Grubb, that “EA HD title” actually refers to a remaster of BioWare’s beloved Mass Effect trilogy. If true, the Mass Effect trilogy remaster will launch sometime before 31 March 2021, which is when the current fiscal year ends.

While Grubb doesn’t mention any specific platforms, he does say not to expect the game to arrive on the Nintendo Switch at launch, whenever that may be.

This news might sound far-fetched and too good to be true. Fans have been waiting for a proper remake or remaster of the Mass Effect trilogy since it ended with 2012’s Mass Effect 3. Sure, there was 2017’s Mass Effect Andromeda, but it’s better to pretend like that horrible game just doesn’t exist.

As of now, EA has yet to confirm or deny the rumours of a Mass Effect trilogy remaster. Until then, we should take all this with a grain of salt. Maybe we’ll learn more about EA’s future games during their planned EA Play 2020 in June 2020.
