Silent Hill 2 PC Gets An Updated Fan Patch That Fixes Everything
Silent Hill 2’s PC port is pretty crummy, but fans have already done something about it after so many years.
The fan-made patch and remastering of Silent Hill 2’s PC port now has a bunch of new improvements to make fans even more willing to support this version. Here are the changes (via GameSpot):
- Clicking sounds when audio samples were interrupted are removed. This was noticeable when scrolling through the menu,
- 3D positional audio has been added,
- Map view is adjusted for widescreen,
- Integrated shaders allow you to customize your brightness settings,
- SMAA antialiasing, colour temperature, fog texture resolution fixes,
- A number of bug fixes.
All in all, this is a definitive improvement to make even PS2 owners of the original Silent Hill 2 consider playing it on PC with this patch. It’s a late Halloween present, sure, but it’s better than nothing. Or Konami’s previous efforts.
