CD Projekt Admits Not Spending Time On Last-Gen Versions Of Cyberpunk 2077

The Cyberpunk 2077 & CD Projekt drama continues.

When not being waylaid by game journalists about not doing much with its representation and topics of adult culture, it’s being lambasted by fans for its piss-poor quality of the base PS4 and Xbox One versions. And wouldn’t you know it: the figureheads at CD Projekt admitted they done f***ed up on a recent conference call with its investors and shareholders.

The public meeting involved CD Projekt leads Adam Kiciński, Piotr Nielubowicz, and Michał Nowakowski. It highlighted the following inquiries:

  • The team was definitely focused on PC and next-gen performances rather than current-gen; they did not spend enough time looking at that. PlayStation and Xbox quality assurance folks were assured that CD Projekt was supposed to fix it upon release; that wasn’t the case. From the mouth of MichaÅ‚ Nowakowski:

“[I]f your expectation is that the game is going to be equal to, say, nextgens or PC in terms of performance, that definitely isn’t going to happen. Having said that, I’m not saying it’s going to be a bad game – but if you’re expectations regarding, say, visuals or other performance angle, are like this, then we’re openly stating that’s not going to be the case. It will be a good, playable, stable game, without glitches and crashes, though. That’s the intention.”

  • Regarding refunds, CDPR makes it clear that they do not have a special agreement with Sony or Microsoft.

This didn’t stop CD Projekt from not saying a damn thing about the low quality of the base console performances. You can check out the full transcript here.
