Malaysia’s Naquib Azlan Leads Standings In E1 Championship

The E1 Championship, the premier sim racing championship in the region, is approaching its final three races of the season.

20-year-old Malaysian Naquib Azlan of Scuderia Motorsports is leading the charge, followed by Singapore-based Mikko Nassi of Korean racing outfit Team Safehouse in second, and Malaysia’s 17-year-old Mika Hakimi of RSG in third.

With a total of US$15,000 on the line, E1  Championship continues on 7 January 2021 at 10pm (GMT+8).

Drivers must continue performing their best over the last three races of the season, especially with double  race points up for grabs at the final round.

The top 10 drivers will also need to push harder to overcome the success ballast to keep their placing on the leaderboard. The top three drivers will have an added 15KG, 12KG and 10KG ballast respectively on the following races.

The final three races of the season will be happening at Silverstone UK on 7 January 2021, Road America on the 14 January 2021, and Bathurst Australia on 21 January 2021.

Races will be broadcasted live on TV on eGG Network and on the E1 Championship Facebook page.

Organised by Astro’s esports and gaming channel eGG Network and former F1 driver Alex Yoong’s Axle Sports, E1 Championship aims to provide a platform for the best sim racing drivers in Asia Pacific to compete at the highest level.

E1 Championship has attracted a number of young up and coming talents who are dominating the standings, such as:

  • 16-year-old Malaysian Troy Eimann of team Scuderia Stratos (currently in 5th place).
  • 16-year-old Filipino Inigo Anton of team GT Radial Eurasia (currently in 6th place).
  • 14-year-old Australian  Kalen Chin of team Black Wolf Racing (currently in 7th place).
  • 13-year-old Sri Lankan Yevan David of team Stratos Motorsports (currently in 8th place).
