Guess Which Roguelike Won Big At This Year’s BAFTA Games Award?

Last year’s Hades was a godsend for fans of indie gaming, good storytelling in games, and action titles in general. So it’s no surprise that Supergiant’s Hades won big at this year’s prestigious BAFTA Games Awards ceremony. The BAFTAs, or the British Academy Film Awards, is a pretty big deal for the entertainment industry, and happen to be one of the few legitimate game awards shows that isn’t reliant on exclusive game trailers to stay relevant.

Hades won the following awards:

  • Best Game, Artistic Achievement,
  • Game Design,
  • Narrative,
  • Performer in a Supporting Role (Logan Cunningham who voiced the title character).

Other noteworthy winners include Sackboy: A Big Adventure for the British Game and Family awards, Dreams for the Technical Achievement award, Carrion for the Debut Game award, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons for the Game Beyond Entertainment award. Full list of winners below:

  • Animation – The Last of Us Part 2
  • Artistic Achievement – Hades
  • Audio Achievement – Ghost of Tsushima
  • Best Game – Hades
  • British Game – Sackboy: A Big Adventure
  • Debut Game – Carrion
  • Evolving Game – Sea of Thieves
  • Family – Sackboy: A Big Adventure
  • Game Design – Hades
  • Game Beyond Entertainment – Animal Crossing: New Horizons
  • Multiplayer – Animal Crossing: New Horizons
  • Original Property – Kentucky Route Zero: TV Edition
  • Performer in a Leading Role – Laura Bailey
  • Performer in a Supporting Role – Logan Cunningham
  • Technical Achievement – Dreams
  • EE Game of the Year, publicly voted – The Last of Us Part 2

Congratulations to all the winners here. Oh, and if you haven’t, play Hades. It’s awesome.
