Wild Rift To Be Featured At The 2021 SEA Games In Vietnam

It was announced in October 2020 that esports medal events would be returning in the upcoming 2021 SEA Games, but not a lot of information was revealed about the lineup of titles that would be featured. According to a tweet by Riot Games SEA Wild Rift Esports Project Manager @chisinRPL, the upcoming 2021 SEA Games in Vietnam will feature League Of Legends Wild Rift as a contended title.

The report by Vietnamese publication Gamek.VN not only reveals that Wild Rift will be featured but also several other titles as well, including the following:

  • Wild Rift (Mobile – Men Category)
  • Wild Rift (Mobile – Women Category)
  • Arena of Valor (Mobile – Team)
  • PUBG Mobile (Mobile – Team)
  • PUBG Mobile (Mobile – Solo)
  •  Free Fire (Mobile – Team)
  • League Of Legends (PC – Team)
  • FIFA Online 4 (PC – Team)
  • CrossFire (PC – Team)
  • Mobile Legends Bang Bang (Mobile – Team)

As of now, it is unclear if this is to be the final list of games that will be featured at the upcoming 2021 SEA Games, or if there will be further changes in the coming months.

During the 2019 SEA Games, six games were competed as part of the esports category, including Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Arena Of Valor, Dota 2, Tekken 7, Starcraft 2, and Hearthstone. Malaysia won medals for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (Bronze) and Hearthstone (Gold). They were Hearthstone player Dr. Yew “wkyew90” Weng Kean (check out when we spent the day with the gold medalist here) and team Shopee Bosskurr.

The 2021 SEA Games (or 31st SEA Games) will take place in Hanoi, Vietnam starting from 21 November 2021. Stay tuned on Kakuchopurei for more esports news.
