Philippines’ Inigo Anton Wins ERacing GP Series Season 8

Philippines Sim Racer Inigo Anton has won the 8th edition of the eRacing GP Global Edition Series to take the title for the first time in his seventh season in the Championship.

Anton and Ar Muhammad Aleef from Singapore came into the final round of eRacing GP Global Edition 8 tied on points at the top of the championship table. As the two best drivers from their respective countries fireworks were expected and both drivers duly delivered.

In race one, Anton got a good start from pole position however a small mistake near the end of lap one caused him to run wide, which then allowed Aleef through into the lead. Anton then had to defend from Kodi Latkovski, who is the FIA world Champion from the 2019 motorsport games. Anton was just able to hold on to second as all three drivers pulled away from the field.

Aleef, who is also a 3-time Global Edition Champion and soon came under pressure from Anton who is only 18 years of age. Interestingly enough both drivers were also teammates when they took fourth place at the biggest ERacing competition in the world – The Lemans 24 Hours Virtual race in January earlier this year.

As the field went into the last quarter of the race, Anton finally managed a move down the inside of turn 6. He then held off for the win to take the championship lead from Aleef. In race two, Aleef got his revenge after hitting the front quite early in the race. He would go on to win race two with Anton in second and Malaysia’s Alister Yoong in third.

Inigo bagged fastest lap in both races and along with his pole position meant that he was crowned champion for the first time in eRacing GP. In the other 3 categories raced for at eRGP, there were championship wins for Malaysia’s Nico Sage in Silver edition, Muhammad Dzikri in Bronze, and a debut championship victory for Keith Moh in the Copper Edition.
