Smash Bros. Clone Rivals Of Aether Gets A Sequel & RPG Spin-Off
Aether Studios’ 2D platformer fighting game Rivals of Aether was, and still is, a fan-favourite among fighting game fans who want to play something other than Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on other platforms. So it’s no surprise the indie developer wants to expand the IP to greater heights.
First up, Aether Studios will be making a sequel called Rivals of Aether 2. It will be using 3D graphics and new engine, as well as targeting a 2024 release window. A closed beta is planned for 2023. The game’s new mechanics include adding shields, grabs, and stage ledges. Check out the announcement trailer below:
And that’s not all: the developers also announced a spin-off game called Dungeons of Aether, slated for 25 October for PC (Steam). Dungeons of Aether is a turn-based dungeon crawler featuring four new heroes, a dice draft system to ensure unique battles that requires players to adapt, a robust story mode, and challenge dungeons featuring roguelike mechanics and elements.
