Dying Light Studio Is Making An Open-World Fantasy RPG; Features Ex-CD Projekt Developers

Not sick of making more open-world games, Techland is taking a break from zombies and is now tackling fantasy.

The Polish developer and publisher have announced that it’s working on a new open-world fantasy action RPG and are hiring new people to work on the triple-A game. The company has 70 positions open for this, ranging from animation duties to production.

The team spearheading the new IP include ex-CD Projekt Red staff like open world director Bartosz Ochman (Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt), narrative director Karolina Stachyra (The Witcher 2, The Witcher 3) and narrative lead Arkadiusz Borowik (Witcher 2, Witcher 3). Other notable staff members include creative director Mario Maltezos (Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Mad Max), lead game designer David McClure (Deathloop) and lead animator Kevin Quaid (Horizon Zero Dawn).

Techland’s last game, Dying Light 2, sold 5 million copies during its launch month, showcasing the fact that there’s still a need for open world zombie games. We enjoyed our time with Dying Light 2, even if parts of the story felt a bit off. Check out our full review here.
