Fatshark’s Warhammer 40K: Darktide is basically what many gaming fans are looking for since the Vermintide games: great Left 4 Dead inspired co-op PvE shooters that are actually great and do not feel like knock-offs.

The game will maintain Vermintide’s joke, banter, and group bickering in the sci-fi sequel, but how would Fatshark pull it off with the game’s customizable characters though? The devs talked about the process in their blog that included raw footage of voice actors at work. Players can choose from any number of voice profiles for each class, allowing for “thousands of banter lines in Darktide”.

Here’s what narrative director Marten Stormdal has to say:

“It’s something we’ve had in mind from the start, through writing, casting and direction. In fact, given the sheer range of voice profiles in the game – we probably can’t tell you the precise number that will be live at launch, but it’s plenty – and the quantity of voice lines (it’s a lot – we hate hearing the same lines again and again when we’re gaming) players will find plenty to fall in love with.”

Warhammer 40K: Darktide will be out for PC and Xbox consoles/Xbox Game Pass this 13 September.
