Bayonetta 3 Gets ESRB Rating, Suggesting A Release Date This Year
PlatinumGames’ long-awaited second sequel to its hit action game Bayonetta might be coming soon, in 2022 in fact.
According to the eagle eyes of Twitter user The_Marmolade, the Nintendo US website lists Bayonetta 3 as having been classified an M-rated game by the Entertainment Software Rating Board. The game also has an 18 rating by European classification board PEGI.
The game’s product page lists ESRB content descriptors to include violence, blood and gore, partial nudity, strong language, and (get this) in-game purchases. Not sure what’s going on with the last point, but the rest all check out. Bayonetta isn’t a game for kids, as you can tell from the main character’s Wicked Weave gameplay.
In any case, Bayonetta 3 is on track for its 2022 release window. If it’s anything like the past two games, expect Bayonetta to fight angels and demons in 3D hyper action gaming glory (ala Devil May Cry) to happy pop ballads and possibly a pop remix of classic 60s slow song. And outlandish locations like the top of a jet plane, crumbling building debris & rubble, and on a rocket.
