This Fall Guys Clone Has Allegedly Over 18 Million Daily Players
Ever heard of Stumble Guys? Me neither, but it turns out to be a successful Fall Guys battle royale Takeshi’s Castle minigames-style clone that’s making waves.
Stumble Guys, a game made by Finland studio Kitka Games, soft-launched a few months after Fall Guys’ release in late 2020, and it launched globally in January 2021. The game took off recently according to market intelligence tool AppMagic, dominating the mobile game market that’s devoid of minigames-filled battle royale titles. How much are we talking here? Try 163 million downloads, in the top 10 of both the US and UK Google Play download charts, and US$21 million in revenue since launch.
In fact, Stumble Guys is on PC since October 2021 and has allegedly attracted 18 million daily players. Stumble Guys also experienced a peak in downloads, four days after Fall Guys went free-to-play last month.
Will there be competition for Stumble Guys in the mobile space? Well, Chinese entertainment company Bilibili will be publishing a mobile version of Fall Guys in China in the near future. In any case, we may be seeing a minigame battle royale war brewing next year, or even beyond.
