Talon Esports Takes Flight Ahead Of Overwatch 2 Launch

Hong Kong-based esports organisation, Talon Esports bid farewell to their Overwatch Path To Pro team and are stepping away from Overwatch after four years.

Talon Esports has come out and announced that they would no longer be fielding a team in Overwatch for the foreseeable future. Talon has dominated the top spots in the Overwatch Contenders scene since its inauguration back in 2018.

Below you can find Talon’s late roster that was released:

  • Kim AttackJun-hwa – Tank
  • Kim “D0NGHAK” Min-Seong – Tank
  • Park “SeonJun” Seon-jun – DPS
  • Lee “KNIFE” Seon-woo – DPS
  • Kim “Tougen” Yo-han – DPS
  • Jeong “TopDragon” Seung-yong – DPS
  • Kim “Sley” Jae-hwan – Support
  • Bong “search” Wook – Support
  • Kim “Swingby” Kwang-bok – Head Coach
  • Kong “Harang” Ji-won – Assistant Coach

The announcement was made ahead of Overwatch 2’s release, so the timing does make sense. This provides players some time going into the sequel to explore their options, although, it would have been better if this happened at least a couple of months before.

The organisation states that they remain excited for Overwatch 2, and are in high hopes that the competitive scene will flourish once again. With that said, don’t expect Talon to be gone from Overwatch forever. If Overwatch 2 sees a lot of success in the competitive scene then we can expect them to return.

Talon Esports was initially founded as an organisation that fields Taiwanese and Hong Kongese players exclusively. The organisation has since expanded to field teams from South Korea in Overwatch, Rainbow 6 Siege and Clash Royale. They also have a Dota 2 division that is based in the Philippines and consists of one Australian, two Thais and 2 Indonesians.

Their League of Legends roster is also partnered with French football club Paris Saint-Germain’s esports division and competed under the name PSG Talon.
