Age Of Empires II Definitive Edition Will Be Out On Xbox; Age Of Mythology Remaster Confirmed
Microsoft and Xbox have officially announced a slew of Age of Empires definitive versions in 2023 and beyond.
First up: the definitive edition of Age of Empire II and Age of Empires IV will be out for Xbox consoles in 2023. And yes, these games will have controller inputs though you can still plug in your keyboard and mouse into your Xbox console of choice.
“We also considered the functionality Xbox players have come to expect from their games and so the game will include optional crossplay between platforms, allowing you to play with your friends on Xbox and on PC. We’re also bringing the game to Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta), allowing players to continue their empire building, even when away from PC or console.”
We heard your pleas, and we agree that now is the perfect time—we're aging up and heading to the console age!

That’s not all: Microsoft’s World’s Edge studio has announced Age of Mythology Retold, a remastered definitive edition of the 2002 strategy game classic. Instead of historical armies, players control armies of the Greeks, Egyptians, and Norse, along with their respective gods and demigods for game-breaking powers.
“We know that the Age of Mythology community has been hopefully waiting for a Definitive Edition, and we’ll be delivering. We’re working hard to bring you the glory of the original game with updated graphics, features and more. Stay tuned for more news.”
No release window has been announced for Age of Mythology Retold yet.
