Avatar The Way Of Water Opens With A Tidal Wave Of US$435 Million

James Cameron’s Avatar The Way Of Water made a big splash in its opening weekend with a whopping US$434.5 million worldwide. Of that, over USS$300.5M comes from the international box office. That’s the third-highest global weekend posted by any Hollywood film during the post-pandemic era, behind Doctor Strange 2’s US$442 million and Spider-Man No Way Home’s US$587.2 million.

In the US, it made US$134 million at the domestic box office. Of the 52 territories outside of the US, China delivered the biggest start with US$57.1 million. Other top-earning markets include Korea with US$24.7 million, Germany with US$19.9 million, France with US$19.3 million, India with US$18.1 million, the United Kingdom with US$14.2 million and Mexico with US$12.9 million.

Will Avatar The Way Of Water be able to reach US$1 billion by the end of December 2022? We’ll have to wait and see.
