[Rumour] New Post-Korra Avatar Series In The Works, Featuring An Earthbender Avatar

A new report from Avatar News has claimed that the next animated series in the Avatar universe featuring an Earthbender Avatar who succeeds Aang and Korra as the Avatar, is currently in the works at Avatar Studios and Paramount. It is said to be slated to premiere sometime in 2025.

The same report also claims that the series will take place around 100 years after Korra’s era and that it will be the Avatar world’s equivalent of present-day in the real world. If all this is true, it will release in the same year as the first animated Avatar feature film, which focuses on grown-up versions of Aang and his friends.

However, all of this should be taken with a grain of salt for now, since there are no official sources from either Nickelodeon or Paramount at the time of writing. The only confirmed Avatar series right now is the live-action adaptation in development at Netflix.

Avatar The Last Airbender originally aired for three seasons on Nickelodeon from February 2005 to July 2008. The sequel series Legend Of Korra aired for four seasons from April 2012 to December 2014. The upcoming Avatar Netflix series is completely independent of the new Avatar Studios deal and that the live-action series is still moving forward on the streaming platform. However, original creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are no longer working on Netflix’s live-action adaptation.
