League Of Legends’ Gives Ahri An Art & Sustainability Update
League of Legends fans can rejoice as one of the oldest and most beloved champions in the game, Ahri has received an art and sustainability update (ASU).
As one of the oldest champions in the game, Ahri was in dire need of a visual upgrade. But this update differs from others as it will not affect gameplay mechanics, but rather it will focus on making it easier for Riot to create new cosmetic items in the future. This is a departure from the usual type of update that players are accustomed to and is designed to improve sustainability for the long term.
For Ahri’s new appearance, it may not seem like much but Riot has taken elements from her previous appearances in League cinematics and in-game designs. The design appears to be heavily influenced by the “A New Dawn” trailer, with some minor elements borrowed from her appearance in Ruined King. The developers wanted to highlight Ahri’s wild and primal nature while also maintaining her graceful Vastayan beauty.
The ASU also means that all of her existing skins have had a fresh lick of paint but many of the changes are minute and barely noticeable.
Ahri’s ability icons have also been modified to better reflect their appearance in-game. This is not a common occurrence for champions who receive art and sustainability updates, as their effects are typically not significantly changed. The most recent example of a champion having their ability icons updated as part of an art and sustainability update was Caitlyn, who received the update over a year after the release of her art and sustainability update.
SkinSpotlights released a video showcasing Ahri’s updated abilities with her base skin. Although the abilities themselves have not changed, they now have more magical effects and glowing trails when cast. Additionally, Ahri now floats instead of dashing when using her ultimate ability, Spirit Rush.
