Overwatch 2 “Actioned” For Cheating, Or At Least Playing With Cheaters

Talk about no mercy. Blizzard may have attracted over 40 million players old and new for its multiplayer shooter Overwatch 2, but a number of them are not playing nice and fair it seems.

Blizzard has mentioned on its latest update that not only has it been developing tech to discourage disruptive voice chat that contains abusive language and context, but it’s also taking aim at halting inappropriate content in custom games (like sexual harassment simulators). The biggest takeaway here? Blizzard has “actioned” over 50,000 accounts for cheating over launch and even targeting players who go along and associate themselves with cheaters.

“Players who knowingly group up with cheaters are looking to take the same advantage as those who use cheats themselves, including boosting their accounts to skill levels they would not normally belong in with their own skill.”

Blizzard will be taking action against cheaters and other disruptors of Overwatch 2, but implores players to report, report, report. The company is more likely to take action against behaviour when it’s reported.
