Pluto Anime Adaptation Coming To Netflix This 2023
Despite rumours of its anime adaptation in 2019, PLUTO by Naoki Urasawa and Takashi Nagasaki’s acclaimed manga, is closer than ever to being released.
Netflix today has unveiled a four-minute sneak preview starts with an explosive fight and other scenes from the series with no audible dialogue, yet features action-packed futuristic setting, and a grimly adult character. PLUTO then seen unsuspecting in public towards the end of the trailer.
Based on Tezuka’s signature Astro Boy manga series, Pluto was an award-winning and bestseller, reimagining Osamu Tezuka’s mid-1960s “Greatest Robot on Earth” manga series. The suspense drama takes place in a neo-futuristic world where humans and high-functioning robots live in complete harmony. However, one detective chasing down a string of murders that might have been committed by a robot.
The series will be made by GENCO, the same folks behind Sword Art Online, Toradora!, and High School DxD, with animation production by Studio M2. Takashi Nagasaki is the co-author and the series’ supervisor Macoto Tezka, son of the late Osamu Tezuka. Casts of the series are Shinshu Fuji (Gesicht), Yoko Hikasa (Atom) and Minori Suzuki (Uran).
Author Naoki Urasawa shares his message:
“I applaud the courage of everyone that has taken on the challenge of making an anime based on PLUTO. I am excited about the birth of this new series to win over people’s hearts. I hope that now more than ever, Osamu Tezuka’s message reaches the world.”
Even the son of the late Osamu Tezuka called the upcoming anime adaptation “The real deal” and excited to see how this new generation of anime will turn out.
PLUTO is confirmed to premiere later this year exclusively on Netflix.
