Superman Legacy Now In Pre-Production & Script Is Complete, Confirms James Gunn
For those who don’t know, April 18 is the annual celebration of Superman’s debut and on this year’s Superman Day, DC Studios boss James Gunn has taken the occasion to announce that the upcoming Superman Legacy is now officially in pre-production.
I’m honored to be a part of the legacy. And what better day than #SupermanAnniversary Day to dive fully into early pre-production on #SupermanLegacy? Costumes, production design, and more now up and running. pic.twitter.com/TJYpCRmdsf

What that means is that official work has begun on the project, including costumes, production design and more. In a reply below that tweet, Gunn also confirmed that the full script for Superman Legacy is finished, which means that the project is further along than we all expected when it was first announced in February 2023.
The whole script.

Superman Legacy will be directed by James Gunn, but none of the cast members has been revealed yet. It is slated to premiere on 11 July 2025.
According to Warner Bros’ official logline, Superman Legacy tells the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.
Superman Legacy will be the first movie in the new rebooted DCU or DC Universe. You can read more about that in detail by heading over here for my previous coverage.
