Genshin Impact Announces Its First Official International Tournament Series for 2023

HoYoverse has announced that its popular video game, Genshin Impact will launch its first international Genius Invokation TCG tournament series, “Astra Carnival: The Prince Cup” in the later half of this year. Players all around the world will be able to join in on this fun and competitive journey. Six regional championships will be held, alongside a number of invitational tournaments which will share the prize pool of over 270,000 US Dollars.

If you haven’t heard of Genshin Impact, it is a freetoplay openworld adventure RPG in which the player will explore the beautiful world of Teyvat. The game was released in September 2020 and has actively continued to expand on new stories, events, characters, gameplay as well as adding new landscapes to the already big open world. Last December, Genius Invokation TCG, a card game that combines the element-based combat system with strategy development was introduced by Genshin Impact itself. The card game allows players to compete with or against NPCs with their collection of cards. In the latest Version 3.7 update last week, the developers added over 60 new cards and two game modes.

In the earlier half of this year, Genshin Impact authorized the Genshin Impact Tavern community to launch the first ever season of “Cat’s Tail Gathering” GITCG Tournament. This is a community tournament system on Discord. The “Astra Carnival: The Prince Cup” was announced as an advanced tournament. Currently, the Prince Cup consists of two parts: six regional tournaments happening between June to September, plus three cross-regional invitationals in June, August, and December.

In each regional, the top candidates from the “Cats Tail Gathering” community tournaments and wild card competitions will compete for the regional championship. The players who advance to the quarter-finals will compete on-site where there will be a live broadcast on the official AstraCarnival Twitter, YouTube, Twitch and TikTok channel. Top regional candidates and top community tournament candidates will have a chance to get invited to the invitationals and take part in exhibition games for the international audience.

Fans and gamers can also register to host their own nonofficial Genius Invokation TCG tournament and get support and guidance from HoYoverse. For more information, please refer to the Genshin Impact Non-Official Tournament Collaboration Rules here

Since this is the first international tournament series of Genshin Impact, “Astra Carnival: The Prince Cup”, hopefully this will give a chance for talented players and diverse fans and gamers to be on the big stage. Regionals in Korea, Europe, and North America will kick off first. For more details about rules and registration, please check out the official tournament website over here.
