Gran Turismo Movie Trailer Teases Rise Of Esports Gamer To Pro Racer
Sony Pictures unveiled the first full trailer for the upcoming Gran Turismo movie.
Back in November 2022, it was announced that Guardians Of The Galaxy and Shazam star Djimon Hounsou and former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell-Horner joined the cast of Gran Turismo, the live-action film adaptation from Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions based on the iconic racing game franchise.
The cast also includes Daniel Puig, Josha Stradowski, and Thomas Kretschman, as well as the previously-announced David Harbour, Archie Madekwe, Orlando Bloom and Darren Barnett. Neill Blomkamp, best known for sci-fi movies such as District 9 and Elysium, is directing the Gran Turismo movie with a script by Jason Hall (American Sniper) and Zach Baylin (King Richard).
The synopsis reads:
Based on the true story of Jann Mardenborough, the film is the ultimate wish fulfillment tale of a teenage Gran Turismo player whose gaming skills won a series of Nissan competitions to become an actual professional racecar driver.

The Gran Turismo movie will premiere in August 2023.
The most recent game in the franchise was Gran Turismo 7, which launched for the PS4 and PS5 in March 2022 earlier this year. Check out my review of the game by heading over here.
