Indonesian Horror Series Jurnal Risa Premieres On Disney+ Hotstar Later This Month

Following the success of the Danur Universe, the creator behind the famed YouTube channel with more than 6 million subscribers, Risa Saraswati, is set to release her debut series, “Jurnal Risa”, exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar on 27 May 2023.

The spine-tingling childhood adventure of Risa Saraswati, her cousins, and The Crew will be adapted into a horror series helmed by Awi Suryadi with Manoj Punjabi of MD Entertainment as the producer, the team behind Indonesia’s highest-grossing local movie to date, “KKN di Desa Penari”. This 10-episode series will premiere its first two episodes on 27 May 2023, followed by one new episode dropping every Saturday.

Based on Risa Saraswati’s novel Jurnal Risa: The Summer Break Terror (Teror Liburan Sekolah), the series will tell a story from the 90s when young Risa indulged in yet another haunted adventure with her new friends, who called themselves The Crew, and her cousins, trying to save one of them from an evil spirit who seeks revenge.

Starring Shofia Shireen as Risa, Sheryl Drisanna as Dewi, Ali Fikry as Angga, Muhammad Ozkan as Nicko, Keanu Azka as Kakang, Alesha Fadillah as Indi, Alleyra Fakhira as Riri, Dimas Putra as Agus and Quentin Stanislavski as Kulon, “Jurnal Risa” will be available exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar and Disney+ starting from 27 May 2023 for audiences in Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Philippines.
