Marvel’s Secret Invasion Featurette Reveals What Will Kick Off The Events Of The Series

Marvel Studios and Disney+ have unveiled a new behind-the-scenes featurette for the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) series, Secret Invasion.
While the official synopsis previously confirmed that the series will take place in present-day MCU, we didn’t know what would kick off the events of Secret Invasion. Thanks to the featurette, now we do.
According to Cobie Smulders, Marvel’s Secret Invasion will start with Nick Fury returning after having been off-planet all this time while Maria Hill has been holding the fort on Earth.
Meanwhile, a character named Agent Prescott tells Martin Freeman’s Everett K. Ross that there have been five global terrorist strikes in the span of a year and each has been claimed by different groups. However, Agent Prescott warns Agent Ross that “that’s precisely what they want you to think”, which means that he suspects that the same group is behind all the attacks.
It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that the culprit is probably the Skrulls, but why are they committing public attacks if it is them? They’re supposed to be clandestinely infiltrating humanity, not blowing up places. I guess that’s part of the conspiracy?
With only about a month or so until release, we’ll probably be learning more and more about Secret Invasion in the coming weeks.
The synopsis reads:
“In Marvel Studios’ new series ‘Secret Invasion,’ set in the present day MCU, Nick Fury learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls. Fury joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill and the Skrull Talos, who has made a life for himself on Earth. Together they race against time to thwart an imminent Skrull invasion and save humanity.”
Marvel’s Secret Invasion premieres on Disney+ Hotstar on 21 June 2023.
