Retro Adventure Hayaku! And The Island Of Darkness – A New Metroidvania Game for PC

The Argentinian-based Pizia Studios, just announced their latest game, Hayaku! and the Island of Darkness, a retro-style Metroidvania game that will be available on PC via Steam.

According to a Gematsu article, the developers said they’re trying their best to make the game available on other platforms as well, but there’s no guarantee at this time.

What’s the game about?

So, what’s the game all about? Well, the game’s Steam page has some details for us. Hayaku! and the Island of Darkness is a retro-style Metroidvania game that pays tribute to classic 8-bit games. It has challenging platforming, intense combat, and an interesting story!

The story goes like this: you play as Hayaki, a talented soldier and member of an organization called Reikan, which investigates and stops unusual activities. Recently, a strange island has become home to dangerous and unpredictable creatures for no apparent reason, so Reikan has decided to look into it. As a member of the team, Hayaki is the best choice for navigating the tricky terrain and figuring out the island’s secrets. But he’s not just doing it for the job. His brother, who also worked for Reikan, disappeared on the island, so Hayaki is determined to find him no matter what it takes. So, are you ready to help him?

Key Features

  • Lose Yourself in Huge Maps – Immerse yourself in the lost world using the map system that keeps track of your progress, and find navigation stations that unlock the map of the area you’re exploring.
  • Arsenal System – Explore and create more than 12 weapons that can be utilized as upgrades for either your sword or pistol. Each weapon can level up and exhibit entirely different behaviours based on its level.
  • Ride Armor Customization System – Discover and collect new Ride Armor parts throughout the game world, allowing you to customize your combat robot with new abilities and upgrades. Experiment with different combinations to find the perfect setup for your playstyle.
  • Soundtrack – Featuring a chiptune soundtrack that could have been created for the NES, the game’s soundscapes bring back memories of classic video games while delivering a fresh experience.
  • Visual Design – Drawing inspiration from the NES, but with added creative elements that create a balance of nostalgia and innovation, providing a new and exciting experience.
