Yes, The Final Fantasy Theme Is In Final Fantasy 16

Japanese role-playing game fans should damn well know what the Final Fantasy theme sounds like. It’s perhaps the most iconic theme composed by legendary game music maker Nobuo Uematsu.

The theme made its debut in Final Fantasy for Famicom/NES in 1987, with many iterations of it being made since from Final Fantasy IV’s epic SNES synth version to the piano-laden version from Yoko Shimomura in Final Fantasy XV. To keep with tradition, Final Fantasy XVI does have a version of the Final Fantasy theme; it played at the end of the launch trailer for Final Fantasy 16 and it’s composed by Masayoshi Soken.

You can compare how the new one sounds like with the older version with our recent SoundScape video below. Let us know which version is your favourite in the comments section either on this post or on YouTube.

Final Fantasy 16 is out now exclusively for PlayStation 5. Check out our review and combat guide for the game.
