Activision Is Making A Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 3 For 2023, To Nobody’s Surprise

A bunch of new leaks and DMCA strikes have confirmed that Activision is releasing the next Call of Duty game this year.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was reportedly referenced in recent DMCA strikes from publisher Activision by various Twitter users who have been sharing images of the unannounced game. The third game, which is part of the recent Modern Warfare reboot that already has two entries, is developed by Sledgehammer Games.

What’s interesting is that this new Call of Duty was supposed to be a Modern Warfare 2 expansion, but somehow it morphed into a full game (via Bloomberg). Activision has said (according to sources close to the project) that the upcoming game is a standalone full-price title that also feels like an extension of Modern Warfare 2. Whether that feels like market-speak or not (it is), we’ll hear more about the game’s actual release date and gameplay details soon enough.
