Disney Delays Several Marvel Shows, Including Echo & X-Men 97

Marvel Studios and Disney+ has announced changes to many upcoming Disney+ Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) TV series.

Loki Season 2 will still premiere on its original release date of 6 October 2023. However, here are the new release windows for other shows:

  • What If Season 2 – Christmas 2023
  • Echo – January 2024
  • X-Men 97 – Early 2024
  • Agatha Darkhold Diaries – Late 2024
  • Ironheart – Delayed Indefinitely
  • Wonder Man – Delayed Indefinitely
  • Daredevil Born Again – Delayed Indefinitely

These delays are a result of the ongoing SAG-AFTRA writer-actor strikes, with Disney and other AMPTP studios still refusing to relent.

The most significant delay is probably Echo, since it was previously slated to premiere on 29 November 2023. The series stars Alaqua Cox as a one-time head of a criminal organization who returns to her hometown in Oklahoma to come to terms with her past. The series is a spinoff from the Hawkeye series.

Most of the other shows haven’t received any definitive release dates even before these delays were announced. With the strikes still ongoing and no signs of being resolved anytime soon, it is likely that all these other shows post-Loki Season 2 will continue being delayed for the foreseeable future.

Earlier this year, Disney also announced delays for their upcoming MCU movies.

In the meantime, you can check out my breakdowns of all the Loki Season 1 episodes here; Episode 1Episode 2, Episode 3, Episode 4, Episode 5 and Episode 6.

Courtesy of Disney+ Hotstar Malaysia, I was also lucky enough to be the only Malaysian media to participate in roundtable interviews with Loki Costume Designer Christine Wada and Loki Production Designer Kasra Farahani.
