A Gargoyles Live-Action Series Is In The Works For Disney+

Almost 30 years after its original debut, the Gargoyles animated series is getting a live-action series adaptation (via The Hollywood Reporter). Gary Dauberman and James Wan’s Atomic Monster banner, known for their collaborations on the hit Annabelle horror movies, have teamed up to work on the project.

Gargoyles was originally produced by Walt Disney Television Animation and aired for three seasons, from 1994 to 1997. The premise involved living gargoyle statues as the main characters. These gargoyles are statues during the day and come to life at night. It was created by Greg Weisman (creator of Young Justice and Spectacular Spider-Man).

Dauberman will write, executive produce and be the showrunner for the series with Atomic Monster, the company run by Wan and Michael Clear.  Dauberman is best known for writing Annabelle, Annabelle Creation and Annabelle Comes Home, as well as The Nun. He also directed Annabelle Comes Home and worked together on Swamp Thing, the series that previously streamed on the now-defunct DC Universe platform. Dauberman also co-wrote 2017’s It and 2019’s It Chapter Two.
