Final Fantasy XIV’s Newest Class Is The Dual Swords-Wielding Viper

The latest Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival takes place in London right now on 21 October, and features a bunch of new updates and announcements.

The most important one is the reveal of the new class in the upcoming expansion Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail: the melee damage dealer Viper. This class can switch between dual wielding swords to combining them into a single weapon, alternating between fast attacks and big swings in stylish fashion. According to FFXIV localisation supervisor Michael-Christopher Koji Fox, the Viper is a “technically demanding but highly stylish melee job,” where the player can dual-wield single blades for swift strikes, before temporarily combining them into a single sword to deal huge damage with tons of flair”.

The new job will start off at level 80 and can be picked up from Ul’dah. The second class in Dawntrail will only be revealed on 7th January 2024 in Japan, so you’ll have to stay tune to that.
