Mortal Kombat 1 Switch Update Arrives; Addresses Major Improvements & Fixes

Mortal Kombat 1 had a successful launch, but it admittedly didn’t release in the best state on the Nintendo Switch. There have been some harsh criticisms of Mortal Kombat 1 on Switch from reviewers, with Nintendo Life recommending players “stay away from this one for now” and other outlets calling it a poorly ported version.

However, the series creator, Ed Boon, made a promise that there would be an update to resolve these issues on the Switch platform.

Keeping his word, a new update is now available. This update aims to address the initial problems and improve the overall experience for Nintendo Switch players. Players can expect a more polished and optimized version of Mortal Kombat 1, ensuring a smoother and more enjoyable gameplay experience.

Along with various fixes and improvements, which aren’t specifically detailed in the patch notes, the update also includes Season 1 of Invasions mode, which wasn’t included when the Switch version was released.

Mortal Kombat 1 Patch Notes (12/10/2023)

  • Performance improvements
  • Loading time improvements
  • Stability fixes
  • Leaderboard fixes
  • Localization fixes
  • Gameplay balance changes
  • Season 1 of Invasions
  • Visual improvements and general bug fixes

In our Mortal Kombat 1 review, we said. “As far as gateway 2D fighting games go, this one’s a keeper, at least for a few months of play and single-player mode fiddling”.

Mortal Kombat 1 is now available on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
