M5 Wild Card: Day 3 – The Last Four Standing
By Lewis Larcombe|November 26, 2023|0 Comment
After the third day of the M5 Wild Card, only four teams remain. In the first match, Umbrella Squad defeated KeepBest Gaming 2-0 by quickly outplaying their close-range, combination-heavy strategy in the first game, finishing in under ten minutes. In the second game, Umbrella Squad continued their pressure to secure their first win in Malaysia.
Team SMG dominated Match 8 with clean and calculated play, sweeping 4Merical Esports. Their disciplined performance set a record for the fewest kills in an M-Series game, with only five kills in the first game. Team SMG’s complete control was evident as they secured every neutral objective in both games, crediting their psychologist for maintaining their mental state in the post-match interview.
In Match 9, Imperio swept Umbrella Squad to secure their spot in the Crossover Matches. Despite a close early game, Imperio’s aggressive farming and strong sustain enabled them to build a gold lead and outdamage their opponents in both games.
Match 10 saw 4Merical Esports facing Niightmare Esports, with the Laotian Reapers defeating the MLBB Champion Battles Fall Split 2023 champion 2-0.
Team SMG faced Team Falcons in Match 11, initially dominating the first game but faltering due to a successful backdoor by Lawtrick. However, Team SMG staged a comeback with a reverse sweep to top Group A.
The final match of the Group Stages between KeepBest Gaming and Team Lilgun broke the record for the longest at the M5 Wild Card, lasting 33 minutes. KeepBest Gaming secured their first game, but Team Lilgun rallied to win the next two games and top Group B.
In the Crossover Matches, Team SMG will play Imperio, and Team Lilgun will face Niightmare Esports. The matches will take place today, 26 November at 2:00 PM GMT+8 and 6:00 PM GMT+8, respectively.
