Malaysian Mobile Legends Teams Embark On Global Stage After Historic Parliament Send-Off

The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), in collaboration with Esports Integrated (ESI) and MOONTON Games, organized a joint press conference today at Dewan Serbaguna Parlimen to mark the conclusion of the M5 Wild Card in Malaysia.

The event served as a send-off for the professional national athletes who will be competing at the M5 World Championship. This occasion was particularly significant as it took place in Parlimen, a crucial symbol in nation-building, making it the first time esports athletes were celebrated at such a prestigious venue.

Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Yang Berhormat Adam Adli, officially released the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang professional national athletes for their participation in the M5 World Championship. This marks a milestone in the development of Malaysia’s esports ecosystem, a result of KBS’s active involvement since 2019.

During the press conference, Adam Adli congratulated HomeBois and Team SMG for securing spots in the M5 Championship. He extended his congratulations not only to the athletes but also to the entire team, including coaches, managers, and dedicated supporters. Adam Adli encouraged the teams to showcase the fighting spirit and capabilities of Malaysian youth on the global stage.

Adam Adli expressed the commitment of KBS and ESI to strengthen collaboration with game developers like MOONTON Games, aiming to foster a vibrant and sustainable esports ecosystem in Malaysia. Additionally, he announced plans to host an esports festival in the Parliament to further support Malaysian esports.

Fikri Rizal Mahruddin, Head of Marketing and Business Development at MOONTON Games, acknowledged the collective support that contributed to Malaysia’s success in the 32nd SEA Games and other third-party ecosystem events. Looking ahead to 2024, he emphasized the goal of involving more partners and operators to elevate the mobile esports industry, with exciting plans in the pipeline.

Team SMG and HomeBois are set to compete at the M5 World Championship in Manila, the Philippines. The competition features sixteen international teams vying for a share of the USD 900,000 prize pool and the title of the world’s best Mobile Legends: Bang Bang team. Both Malaysian teams earned their spots through MPL Malaysia Season 12, a professional esports league offering opportunities for community and professional teams to compete globally and represent Malaysia at prestigious events. The national MLBB esports team had previously secured a silver medal at the Men’s Tournament during the 32nd SEA Games.

All in all, we at KKP would like to share our love and support to our Malaysian brethren who’ll be fighting for our national pride in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. Good luck and have fun!
