T1’s Legendary Coach Back After 4-Years

Esteemed coach Kim “kkOma” Jeong-gyun is making a return to T1. In anticipation of the upcoming League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) 2024 season, kkOma will be taking over the roles previously held by the team’s former coaches, Kim “Sky” Ha-neul and Kim “Roach” Kang-hee.

T1 not only welcomes back kkOma but also introduces changes to the coaching staff. Im “Tom” Jae-hyeon, formerly the interim head coach, has transitioned to the role of coach, collaborating with kkOma.

KkOma’s comeback to T1 holds significant importance, given his extensive decade-long history with the esports organisation.

While he initially started his esports journey as a jungler in 2011 with StarTale, it was his evolution from a pro player to a coach that truly highlighted his abilities. Serving as a coach for T1 from 2012 to 2017, kkOma played a pivotal role in securing three World Championships for the team in 2013, 2015, and 2016.

His coaching prowess extends beyond the LCK team, as evidenced by leading Team Korea to a gold medal in the League of Legends category at the Asian Games 2022, a multi-sport event hosted in Hangzhou, China.

What do you think the return of kkOma could mean for T1 and Faker going into the 2024 season?
