The Blue Exorcist anime franchise revealed a new trailer and visual for its highly-anticipated new season, Blue Exorcist Season 3 or Blue Exorcist Shimane Illuminati Saga. It’s been a whopping seven years since the anime’s previous second season, Blue Exorcist Kyoto Saga, in 2017. The first season premiered way back in 2011, as well as a Blue Exorcist movie in 2012.

Blue Exorcist Shimane Illuminati Saga is set to premiere on 6 January 2024.

The anime is based on the Shueisha-published manga by Kazue Katou, which Viz Media describes as:

Raised by Father Fujimoto, a famous exorcist, Rin Okumura never knew his real father. One day a fateful argument with Father Fujimoto forces Rin to face a terrible truth—the blood of the demon lord Satan runs in Rin’s veins! Rin swears to defeat Satan, but doing that means entering the mysterious True Cross Academy and becoming an exorcist himself. Can Rin fight demons and keep his infernal bloodline a secret? It won’t be easy, especially when drawing his father’s sword releases the demonic power within him!

Blue Exorcist Shimane Illuminati Saga will serve as the third season of the anime series adapting volume 10 to volume 15 of the original manga.

Blue Exorcist Shimane Illuminati Saga has yet to confirm its international release plans as of the time of this writing. Directed by Daisuke Yoshida for Studio VOLN, the new anime will feature a returning voice cast from the first two seasons with new additions to the cast Tomokazu Seki as Lewin Light, Nobuyuki Hiyama as Michael Gedoin, and Kouki Uchiyama as Lucifer. Toshiya Ohno will be handling the series composition, Yurie Daito will provide the character designs, and Kohta Yamamoto and Hiroyuki Sawano are composing the music.

This new Blue Exorcist Shimane Illuminati Saga trailer features the anime’s new opening theme, “Eye’s Sentry,” by UVERworld, who also performed the first season’s opening theme, “CORE PRIDE,” and the second season’s opening theme, “Itteki no Eikyo.”
