The Last Of Us HBO Series & Scott Pilgrim Anime Gets 2024 Critics Choice TV Nominations

One TV adaptation of a 2013 video game blockbuster and a limited anime series that’s full of video game references and tropes get huge nods in 2024’s Critics Choice award (via Hollywood Reporter).

HBO’s The Last Of Us, said adaptation of Naughty Dog’s action-adventure series has received Critics Choice nominations for Best Drama Series, Best Actor in a Drama Series (Pedro Pascal as Joel), and Best Actress In A Drama Series (Bella Ramsey as Ellie). Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, the  Netflix anime series sequel to the 2004 Scott Pilgrim comic book series, is nominated for Best Animated Series.

It’s great to see video game-inspired shows and adaptations taking the spotlight in a show like Critics Choice, especially with how their respective subject matters are handled: with a lot of care and love. That said, the nominations are stacked given that these two shows have to fight against heavy-hitters like The Morning Show, Succession’s final season, The Crown, The Diplomat, and Loki Season 2. At least for The Last Of Us; Scott Pilgrim Takes Off has to contend with Bluey and many others.

The 2024 Critic’s Choice Awards Show will air on 14 January 2024.
